This decanter contains Pussers’ flagship ‘Nelson’s Blood’ 15 Year Rum, a blend of 5 pot still molasses based rums sourced from Trinidad, Guyana and the British West Indies.
The base rum is made at Demerara Distillers from the only wooden pot still still in operation in the world.
Decanter pays homage to the spectacular sport of modern yacht racing, which had its origins in the 17th century. Many people believe that the first recorded yacht race took place during the reign of King Charles II. 6 September 1662.
The carafe’s main design displays most of all the modern kits being floated today, including the popular single design classes. The original art was commissioned by Pusser’s and painted by Antony Blake from New Zealand. Mr. Blake is recognized as one of the world’s leading marine artists.
On the shoulder of the decanter are the names of the world’s most prestigious yacht races: The America’s Cup, the Transpac, the Volvo Ocean Race, Fastnet, Vendée Globe, Chicago-Makinac, the Bermuda Race, the Admiral’s Cup and the Sydney to Hobart Race..
Three smaller portraits adorn the shoulder, including Schooner “America”, winner of the first race of The America’s Cup on 22 August 1851; “Jolie Brise,” winner of the first Fastnet race in 1925, and Captain Joshua Slocum’s “Spray.” Captain Slocum was the first man to sail solo around the world, which he accomplished in 1895-1898.
Pusser’s has won many awards such as the Gold Medal at the 2008 International Rum Festival, Gold at the 2001 London International Wine and Spirits Festival and Double Gold at the 2003 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
