PMG and their Rhum Rhum brand is the brainchild of Bielle Master Distiller, Gianni Capovila and Velier’s Luca Gargano. The rum is distilled on bespoke Muller Copper Pot Stills, specially installed at Bielle distillery on the island of Marie Galante in Guadeloupe for the production of this brand.
Aged just under 3 year this rum agricole is matured exclusively in Sauternes casks and bottled – or “Liberated” from it’s cask in 2010.
Distilled at Bielle distillery, aged just under 3 years in Sauternes casks, this is the first release of the series ‘Liberation’.
Unlike the rest of the range bottled in 2 versions, this is the only one of the series, together with Rhum Rhum Liberation 2007 for Velier’s 70th anniversary, bottled in unique version.
THE BRAND
Rhum Rhum is a project born from the collaboration between Luca Gargano, owner of Velier, master distiller Gianni Vittorio Capovilla, Dominique Thierry from Bielle distillery and the dream of Gargano to reproduce a great rhum, capable to offer the same sensations that he had discovering the Rhum Saint James 1885 stock in a small warehouse in Saint-Rose, Guadeloupe.
The rum production starts from the ‘canne rouge b47.259’, sugarcane species almost disappeared in the Antilles, and the virgin juice distilled on bespoke copper pot stills, designed by Vittorio Capovilla, hand-made in Germany in the workshops of Müller and installed at Bielle distillery, Marie Galante island.
The distillation does not envisage any dilution of the juice with water and no addition of chemichal agents or acidifiers. After a controlled temperature long fermentation and a double distillation in copper pot still, another one follows, personally performed by master distiller Capovilla.
